The rural setting attracted Ben and Kirby to Harvest and from their first visit to the site, the young couple knew it would be the location of their dream home.
“My family lives in Morpeth and we spend a lot of time out there. We both like the sense of calm and the openness of rural areas,” said Ben.
“Harvest just felt right for us as soon as we visited. We had inspected several other new estates but weren’t totally convinced by any of them. It was different with Harvest. As soon as we’d walked around, looked at the views and heard about the type of community that Harvest is going to be, we were sold!” Ben said.
The couple has purchased a land lot in Stage One that is positioned opposite a reserve, with district views that will never be built out.
“We really wanted a view. We didn’t want to feel boxed in, to be just one more house in a large estate of new homes,” said Kirby.
As first home buyers Ben and Kirby will benefit from the NSW Government’s First Home Owner Grant (FHOG) and savings on stamp duty that are only available to purchasers of a new home.
“Initially we were considering purchasing an established home and renovating it but when we realised that we could get the grant if we built our own home, and we could get exactly the home we wanted, we decided that building new was a better idea,” said Ben.
Kirby and Ben have chosen a four bedroom, two bathroom home that will sit comfortably on their 678m² lot and leave plenty of room for a front and back garden.
” There’s a really good mix of lot sizes at Harvest. Our lot is not small but also not so large that it will take a lot of time to maintain. Importantly it’s large enough for our dream home,” said Kirby.
With registration of their land expected in April 2015, the couple expects that building their home will take around 12 months.
“It’s very exciting. We really wanted to buy in Stage One to get into Harvest early and be among the first in the estate. We’re looking forward to being part of the community as it develops,” said Kirby.
