Janice and Graham have settled into their new home at Harvest and are enjoying life in the Hunter region after spending most of their lives in Penrith.
“The move to Harvest was a complete change for us. We’ve been married nearly 51 year and spent 42 of those years living on five acres at Cranebrook,” said Janice.
“A couple of years ago we decided to downsize. We sold our acreage and bought a caravan. We spent two years caravanning in parts of Australia. When we returned to Penrith area, we discovered that house prices had risen dramatically.
“Space is important to us. We didn’t want to buy a new home in a western Sydney housing estate where you can almost touch the house next door, so we decided to look further afield.
“The relaxed, country atmosphere attracted us to the Maitland area,” said Janice
The couple purchased a large, 823m2 corner lot at Harvest with plenty of space for their dog Patch to enjoy and to store their caravan.
“We are used to living on acreage so we like the sense of space at Harvest. That’s what helped us decide to move here. From our new home we can see the hills, mountains and open green space, we don’t feel shut in,” she said.
Although the couple has only been in their new home for a month, they have explored the amenities and attractions of the local area.
“Harvest is central to everything we need. Sometimes we visit Greenhills Shopping Centre but more often go to Raymond Terrace, which is also close by. When we only need a few things both East Maitland and Thornton are great,” said Janice
“Last week we flew to Melbourne. We reached Newscatle Airport in around 40 minutes. It really is a very convenient place to live,” she said.
Janice and Graham’s children are also happy with their parents’ new address. One son lives in Wallsend, two others in the Penrith/Hawkesbury area and their daughter lives in Wagga Wagga.
“Our sons helped us to move, driving some of our furniture up from Ebenezer. They like that Harvest is located within easy reach of the expressway,” said Janice.
Janice and Graham have built the Killara 24 with Clarendon Homes. It’s a single storey four bedroom home with two bathrooms, plenty of living areas and a study.
“We’re very happy with our new home, with Harvest and with local area,” said Janice.
